Birchbox August 2011: Smashbox

I definitely enjoyed the August Birchbox more than I did the July Cynthia Rowley July Birchbox.

The only perplexing thing is that fact that this Birchbox was themed as "beauty innovations", but I didn't find any of that in my Birchbox!
August 2011 Birchbox
Ouidad Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel
Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Twistband Hair Tie
Shaveworks The Cool Fix
June Jacobs Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
I look forward to trying the June Jacobs Papaya mask, as well as the Ouidad hair gel and the Shaveworks soothing lotion.  The hair tie, however, was rather mystifying - nothing innovative or futuristic there.  In fact, it looked rather like some elastic I pulled out of my workout shorts a few weeks ago!

The August 2011 Birchbox:

June Jacobs - Papaya Purifying Enzyme Masque
Ouidad - Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel
Shaveworks - The Cool Fix
Smashbox Cosmetics - Photo Finish Foundation Primer
Twistband - Hair Tie

I can't believe that you paid $10 and got that junk hair band! What a load of crap! Birchbox SUCKS!!!

@anonymous - did you only see the hairband? LOL I happen to know that just a sample size of the smashbox photo finish primer costs more than $16. The rest is a bonus!

Fantastic review of the Aug Birchbox!
Well worth the $10, and just the fact that the box is delivered to your home and wrapped up like a b-day present!! That alone is well worth the $10 to me :)
Thx again for all your great reviews.

Thank you, ladies!

And for @Anon 1, I understand that the hair tie is not a makeup sample, but when I signed up for BB I did agree to additional extras that weren't sample size, etc. and I have long hair, so I can live with it.

I received the exact same box. I think my hairband is different though. It looks like a piece of textured black ribbon. Yours looks like it has some elastic to it?

Never mind. I found my hair band. I had been looking at the package ribbon, lol.

Actually, I really loved the hair tie. I ended up ordering a set on Birchbox. It doesn't leave a crease in my hair nor does it pull on strands. It was my favorite product this month! (I got two Tocca samples, Carol's Daughter Hair Mask, Lift Lab, and the Blinc eyeliner)

I love the hairband! It keeps my extremely thick hair in a bun at the top of my head for hours. I'd love to see a Goody elastic do that-without pulling half of my hair out!

Wow! 10 bucks and all that stuff, amazing! I just signed up for Birchbox, I wont get a box till October :(
Even though I am a bit older I am pretty new to the whole beauty product scene, so I think this would be a good thing for me. (crossing fingers and hoping for some sort of eye cream lol)
Please let us all know what's in Septembers box :)
